Grand Teton National Park is built for hikers. The valley trails are scenic without being punishing, while the canyon routes climb straight into alpine terrain, lakes, waterfalls, and granite walls.
Start with Jenny Lake and Cascade Canyon
For a first Teton hike, Jenny Lake to Hidden Falls, Inspiration Point, and Cascade Canyon is the classic route. Use the boat shuttle to shorten the day, or walk around the lake if you want a fuller outing.
Add one high-alpine objective
Taggart Lake, Amphitheater Lake, Delta Lake, and Paintbrush Canyon each show a different face of the park. Conditions change fast at elevation, so check trail reports and start early.
Build the day around weather
Summer storms often arrive in the afternoon. The best hiking days begin early, include plenty of water, and leave time to get below exposed ridgelines before weather builds.
